This log cabin restaurant is adorned with rustic decor, dead animals and tchotchkes. There is a restaurant on one side and a dairy bar on the other. We saw we could seat ourselves and two waitresses walked by, one said she'd be with us but never came back to the table when another table came in sat down and had a waitress right with them with menus. We were about to leave when she came over to us with menus and got our drink order. Over the time there I watched the waitstaff and realized that our waitress was the most on it over the rest. I'm not sure if there was no manger on duty or if this was the normal "I'll get to it when I get to it" attitude the staff normally has. Our waitress was good, and had she not been as attentive as she was we would have either left or this review would have many less stars. The portions are massive and the prices are low. If you like quantity over quality this place is for you. Between our two meals I was happiest with mine. My food was good and tasted homemade. The other dish the chicken was not fully cooked throughout and dark on the outside. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it is convenient to the highway. Especially if you missed an earlier exit with more options. It isn't the most welcoming environment to travelers so be prepared if you don't look like a local to get some hairy eyeballs.

The food is decent, the portions were plentiful and the prices are reasonable. It's a casual atmosphere, lots of dead animals and cute old-fashioned decorations. Our only complaint was the time it took to get waited on once we sat down, the almost 40 minutes it took to get our food, and the amount of time it took for our server to come back to check on us so we could ask for our check. All-in-all, if you've got the time to spare, it's a nice break from the highway.

I'm a local to the area. This place definitely has some of the best chicken pot pie I've ever had. However, be careful of the waitresses, not all of them are the nicest and the food isn't always the quickest to get to your table. They have had a lot of improvements over the years.

Stopped here for lunch while travelling through PA. The food took quite a while to arrive and we had mostly ordered sandwiches. I also noticed the floors were pretty dirty in the bathroom and the dining area. Judging by how busy it was they must have some good things on the menu, but a mushy tuna melt just doesn't do it for me. I gave it 2 stars because I haven't seen prices that cheap in years. Lunch for 4 people was under $30!

One word. BREAKFAST. I go here for breakfast. Buddy's is quaint and local. There's no frills and to most its nothing special. But there's nothing wrong with that! This is your place if you just want a decent breakfast at a decent price. I for one certainly don't have to be dazzled at every meal or restaurant. The prices and the portions can not be beat. If you are hiking on the AT and make it into town, stop here to fill up on the pancakes. They're huge. Buddy's doesn't have the fastest service BUT that's because they make everything to order. Whats the big rush anyway? Most people in these parts are certainly in no hurry, and I like that. Relax, talk to your family, enjoy your breakfast time. I can't give any opinion on other meals because I always get breakfast here. I love the blueberry pancakes and fresh sausage, and I love their omelets. They also serve good Birch Beer. If you're just looking for a treat then on the other side of the restaurant is an ice cream window. I highly recommend the Teaberry ice cream. My 3 star rating is not due to anything negative, but I thought it was fair for an average good place. So its 3 very positive stars!

The breakfast here is pretty good. Though, thats all I will go for. Dinners are a different story. The food ia usually cold or has been sitting for quite some time. The waitresses are great, though. Very friendly. If you're looking for breakfast in the area, go to Buddys. Anything else, look elsewhere.

Nice people and a unique and rustic setting, but family of 4 came for breakfast this am and it left quite a bit to be desired. Steak (medium) was very dry and over cooked. Eggs were good. Kids pancakes were left on griddle a little too long and had a crunch when you cut them. Bacon and home fries were average.

Come for the ice cream! The food was good, but the ice cream was great. Very reasonable prices. I had a grilled cheese and sweet potato fries, both were good. It surprised me to see sweet potato fries on the menu! The decor is interesting. It really is a log cabin, and there are stuffed animals on the walls. Overall, I enjoyed my visit.

Buddy's was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at. There was a diner across the street but we are always looking for a place where the locals eat. The food here is simple and tasty. We started with the bacon cheese fries and they were hot and cheesy. Real pieces of bacon on top. The kids had chicken nuggets and a burger which both of them enjoyed. My Husband had the sausage sandwich on a hoagie roll and he said it was good with carmalized onions and a nice, fresh roll. Good rolls are very difficult to come by in Northern Virginia, so it is always appreciated when we can find good bread! I had a breakfast dish, which is served all day. Eggs, scrambled, with toast, home fries and a side of scrapple. Scrapple was a different brand than I am used to but cooked as I requested. The only downside were eggs that were a bit greasy. We received a free dessert with the card from our hotel Boston Creme Pie was our selection. We were so stuffed that we got the cake to go. Our server was fantastic and our food was served hot with out burning hot plates (a sure sign they have been sitting under a heat lamp). The prices were great. We had an appetizer, 2 kids meals and 2 adult meals for less than $40 with a free dessert!

You never know about places like this. We decided to try it, but were disappointed. I will say the glasses in the shape of cowboy boots that the milkshakes came in were pretty awesome. My son's black cherry milkshake was great but the other flavors (chocolate and blue raspberry) were lacking in flavor. Also, they said they have *any* flavor milkshakes, but they didn't have blueberry, cherry, or coconut. 3 of us had the roast beef sandwich which left a little to be desired. My son had a cheeseburger which wasn't anything special. My daughter did really enjoy her chicken cheesesteak. Homemade pies were a disappointment too. I'm not sure they were entirely homemade.

Good malted milkshake and the hot turkey was real turkey. Breakfast served all day. Nothing says " franchise" about this place. Close to highway.

This restaurant was pretty good considering it's in a part of the state where it's hard to find anything but fast food. I stopped with my mother on a trip through PA, and although the wait was long (a party of ten arrived just before we did) the food was very food. I had a salad with grilled chicken, and my mother had a grilled cheese with fries. She was happy with the sandwich and fries, and very happy with her unsweetened ice tea. The only other problem was the seating is like picnic table booths that was rather uncomfortable. But for a casual lunch this was a nice place to find, and not far from the highway.

Great place to eat! Not far off of I-81 and I have try to stop whenever traveling that way because I have never been disappointed. You certainly will walk away stuffed after having a good home style meal. Breakfast is great, especially if you get the homefries and fresh sausage. As the name suggests it is a log cabin, and log cabins are found in the frontier so a decor of wilderness stuff and animals is perfectly normal for a log cabin or lodge. The staff here is extremely nice as well, especially the owner who is often bouncing from table to table greeting customers and making sure everything is ok. Despite being close to the highway it seemed like there are alot of locals that are regulars and come for the good food and service and seem to be there daily. I value greatly in deciding on a place to eat, somebody passing through may post a review from a 20 minute stop, but if the place is full of regulars somebody must be doing something right as far as price and quality. After finishing a good meal you can grab some good pie or even the ice cream from their ice cream stand adjacent to the restaurant. Bottom line is you'll get a good meal at a good price!

This is a log cabin HOWEVER you enter and eat in the midst of an array of poor dead animals........a taxidermy's haven so to speak. My husband had the turkey club (because "everyone" said it's the best!) NOT!!!!! My husband hated it - the bacon was soggy and chewy. The turkey was "real" but thick cut and hard. No chips, nothing, NADA............... I had the broasted chicken, FF and cucumber salad plus the salad bar. You need to wait for the waitress to bring you a salad plate then you proceed to the salad bar where dead animals stare at you....(deep breath!!) My chicken was so so but hot. The FF are terrible - dipped in some sort of batter then fried.....YUCK!!! The cucumber salad is, let's just say not edible and leave it to the imagination. The best part was my cone of soft serve, eaten outside far from the beady eyes of dead animals!!!!!!!!!!!! We won't go back..............EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUSTIC LOG Cabin atmosphere but then again what would you expect from a place called Buddy's Log Cabin Family Restaurant. Located between Pine Grove and Ravine on Rt. 125. Needing a meal and seeing this place earlier in the weekend we decided to try it out on our way home. Well we arrived just after 1pm and found out they still served breakfast and that was right up my alley! Decided that Cream Chipped Beef sounded good. Now no place makes creamed chipped beef even close to my mothers but Buddy's surely go a copy of her recipe. Served on two thick slices of lightly toast fresh bread and accompanied with an order of fresh home fries this is the great old time country cooking. If the rest of their meals match the quality and quantity of their Creamed Chip Beef this place will be a sure stop for people looking for a meal off of Exit 100 on Rt 81 N. Buddy's also boast a small ice cream shop on the premises but we didn't have room for desert! Maybe Next time!
